Our Story
Smart Electrician® was founded in 2015 with a mission to make professional-grade lighting and electronics accessible to everyone. Our founders had backgrounds in electrical engineering and product design, and noticed that many existing products in the home improvement space were clunky, overpriced, or simply ineffective. They knew there had to be a better way.
Leveraging the latest advancements in LED technology and smart home systems, our team set out to design products that combined versatility, efficiency, and reliability with simplicity and style. After months of rigorous testing and refinement, Smart Electrician® unveiled its first products in 2016 – a line of sleek, powerful LED work lights that provided portable illumination wherever and whenever users needed it. Customers loved the contemporary aesthetic and robust performance of our lights compared to traditional incandescent or fluorescent work lamps. Soon after, we introduced motion-sensing security lights, outdoor timers, power strips, and other electronic accessories to continue meeting emerging needs for energy-efficient, tech-savvy solutions.

Founders
Smart Electrician® was founded by two lifelong friends – Ryan Smith and Kevin Jones. Ryan and Kevin met in college while pursuing engineering degrees and bonded over a shared passion for conceiving ingenious yet practical product designs. After recognizing the lack of well-designed electronics for homeowners, the duo assembled a team to launch Smart Electrician®.
